Controversial FDNY official removed from senior position

A top FDNY official in charge of assessing aspiring firefighters has been hosed out of that role, The Post has learned. Margaret “Peg” Quinn-Puppa, deputy director of the FDNY’s candidate investigation division, “is assuming other duties in human resources,” said department spokesman Jim Long. Those duties are “outside” of candidate investigation, Long added without further comment.

Camas to consider regional fire district to improve fire department

City leaders in Camas are researching a plan to create a regional fire authority that would respond to fires and emergencies within southeastern Clark County. The district would need to be approved by voters. It could include Camas, Washougal and an area currently managed by East County Fire & Rescue.

Spokane Valley firefighters extinguish Porta-Potty fire at elementary school

Spokane Valley Firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire at Trentwood Elementary School just after 4 pm on Sunday. Initial calls to dispatch reported a portable building on fire. This information combined with black smoke seen from Trent and Sullivan prompted a full commercial fire response.

House fire spreads to second home in Kent; firefighters contain, douse blaze

Firefighters from Puget Sound Fire and King County Fire District 44 had their hands full at 7:10 Saturday morning when a reported house fire turned out to be two homes. Crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire in both homes. Residents in both homes were able to escape safely and there were no reported injuries.

Onalaska: Lewis County Fire District 1 Residents to Vote on Proposition to Finance New Fire Station

Lewis County voters living in Onalaska’s Fire District 1 will have the option to vote on a bond issue that, if approved, would finance construction of a new fire station on Alexander Road in Onalaska. The issue was put on the ballot by a resolution passed by Fire District 1 commissioners which would issue no more than $1.
