Duplin County (NC) Fire Station Heavily Damaged by Hurricane to Take Year to Restore

The North East Volunteer Fire Department's fire station on Highway 41 outside of Wallace had five feet of water inside because of the hurricane.

Chief Kenneth Cavenaugh says one fire truck was destroyed by the storm while all other trucks were relocated along with as much other firefighting equipment as they could save.

The chief said while his 28 firefighters were out rescuing storm victims, 23 of them had damage to their own homes, with 19 of those flooded.

North Charleston (SC) Pink Fire Apparatus Bringing Awareness to Breast Cancer

On Wednesday, the truck will be outside the Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. On Friday, the truck will be outside the Roper St. Francis Cancer Center in West Ashley from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

“We see the impact of increasing awareness every year,” breast cancer surgeon Dr. Megan Baker said. “We see an increase in our screenings and with that the diagnoses that come.”

Galvin Fire Destroys Travel Trailer and Threatens Vehicles, Buildings

A fire in Galvin Monday engulfed a travel trailer and spread to surrounding structures, leaving behind some significant damage but no injuries. Elderly man dies in Bonney Lake mobile home fire

An elderly man bound to a wheelchair died in a mobile home fire early Wednesday morning in Bonney Lake. According to East Pierce Fire, crews were called after 5 a.m. Wednesday to the 9100 block of 207th Avenue East. Four people were inside the mobile home when the fire started. One of them went back inside to try to get the elderly man out but was unsuccessful.

RV fire spreads to building, causes gas leak in West Seattle

An RV fire spread to a building in West Seattle overnight, and now firefighters are dealing with a gas leak near the West Seattle bridge. According to Seattle Fire, the RV fire started about 1:00 a.m., then spread to a building at 28th Avenue South and Southwest Andover Street. This is near the West Seattle Bridge.
