2 California Firefighters Hurt, 1 Man Dead in Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate

Two firefighters were injured when a wrong-way driver slammed head-on into their engine on Interstate 5 near downtown San Diego Thursday morning, according to California Highway Patrol. A San Diego Fire-Rescue truck was responding to a pedestrian hit-and-run crash at about 2 a.m. when a Toyota Carolla, traveling the wrong way on I-5 at State Route 94, slammed into it, CHP said.

Follow Up: Court docs say suspected arsonist tried to capture fire on video, posed as media member in Ridgefield

A suspected arson was arrested at his home Wednesday night several hours after he allegedly set fire to a townhouse under construction in Ridgefield, Washington. 23-year-old Brandon A. Emery appeared in court Thursday morning; he faces one count of arson in the second degree in connection to the fire off North Canyon Circle near North 32nd Avenue.

Kent firefighters collect toys for kids in need of presents

Kent area firefighters are teaming up with a generous community to provide toys for kids this holiday season. The Toys for Joy program is back for another year, hoping to deliver some cheer to families who need a helping hand. Puget Sound Fire crews are seeking unwrapped toys for children up to 12 years old.

Nampa Fire Department (ID) Debuts Fire Apparatus

Nampa Squad 51, as the vehicle is designated, is a two-person quick response unit that will be first to respond out of Station 1 (at 923 1st Street South) on medical calls.   

Nampa Squad 51 will be staffed with a driver/firefighter/paramedic and a captain. “While its primary purpose will be medical response, the squad will also be equipped with a small water tank and pump, along with firefighting gear on board,” said Nampa Communications Manager Amy Bowman.
