Honeywell, Dupont Announce Scholarship Offers to Train at FDIC 2019: Fire Service Training

DAYTON (OH) and WILMINGTON (DE) — Honeywell First Resonder Products and DuPont Safety & Construction announced today that nominations are now being accepted to award 20 expenses-paid scholarships to provide first responders with advanced training at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) International in Indianapolis April 8-13, 2019. Nominations can be completed at http://www.fdicscholarship.com.

The firefighting industry’s premier training event, FDIC teaches firefighters the latest tools, techniques and technology used on the fireground, with a special emphasis on personal and team safety practices. Firefighters can choose from more than 200 classes and workshops plus attend evening social events and network with peers.

Now in its fifth year, Honeywell founded the scholarship to encourage accelerated leadership development and advanced training for best-of-breed firefighters, emergency medical and HAZmat personnel in North America; DuPont has co-sponsored the scholarship since 2016. More than 100 first responders have graduated from the program and many of these have gone on to lead departmental and regional training programs, become community advocates or industry spokespeople.

“Honeywell and DuPont are pleased to offer this unique training opportunity to firefighters who’ve excelled on the fireground and demonstrate a special aptitude for training,” said Christie Newsome, Director of Global Marketing, Honeywell First Responder Products. “These men and women will go back to their firehouses and share the knowledge they acquire by training their colleagues and developing their leadership skills. Five of the instructors at last year’s conference were graduates of our scholarship program.”
