Rogue plane takes off from Sea-Tac Airport; crashes on remote Pierce County island

“My pilot speaking,” her tweet began. “It’s a Horizon Q400 big turboprop. Some guy stole it. Looked up how to fly on the internet. He’s been around Mount Rainier, now is going to Olympics. He doesn’t know what he is doing. He has everything in the area locked down.” Within the hour, Sea-Tac Airport confirmed the rogue mission: "An airline employee conducted an unauthorized takeoff without passengers at Sea-Tac; aircraft has crashed in south Puget Sound.

Neighbors survey damage after fast-moving wildfire destroys multiple Kennewick homes

As Saturday's wildfires rushed toward homes, the folks living in the fires path had only minutes to grab what they could and escape. At least two homes are completely destroyed in the Canyon Lakes area, where the evacuation order was eventually lifted so folks could protect their homes from flareups as firefighters attacked it from the rapidly-advancing front line.

Cougar Creek wildfire is now more than 26K acres, only 5 percent contained

Nearly 1,100 firefighters are tackling the Cougar Creek wildfire which has grown to more than 26,000 acres with only 5 percent containment. The blaze is now spawning additional spot fires. Fire spokesman Nick Mickel says the challenge comes when a spot fire pops up while trying to maintain their containment line.

Fire Near White Pass Grows by Nearly 600 Acres Overnight

Firefighters anticipate dry, gusty winds Friday, following days of hot and arid weather, will worsen the spread of the Miriam Fire, which was at more than 1,900 acres Thursday. Possible thunderstorms could ignite more fires. Lightning from a Saturday thunderstorm sparked a 5-acre fire near White Pass, which is burning slowly in the area around Shoe Lake, Clear Fork and Pacific Crest trails in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Cougar Creek Fire nears homes, Ardenvoir placed on Level 2 evacuation notice

After burning for two weeks in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, the Cougar Creek Fire is now posing a serious threat to life and property as it pushes closer to the Entiat River Valley. The wildfire swelled by nearly another 2,000 acres since yesterday and is now listed at 12,314 acres in size.
