Shawnee (KS) Fire Department Debuts New Fire Apparatus

The John B. Glaser Fire Station, also known as Station 71, is one of the busiest fire stations in the state of Kansas and home to the second busiest Johnson County Med-Act ambulance in the county.  

At the direction of Fire Chief John Mattox, the department’s apparatus committee designed the new engine to be the first to display an updated gray over red color scheme. Shawnee Fire Marshal Corey Sands and Firefighter Duffy Muehlberger gave Operation 100 News a sneak peek of the new engine last week.

Chesterfield (VA) Fire Apparatus Rear-Ended

A 2012 Honda Civic slammed into the rear of the fire engine as it was stopped in the right lane assisting a two-vehicle crash on Chippenham Parkway northbound, north of Hopkins Road, said Sgt. Keeli L. Hill, a Virginia State Police spokeswoman.  

The driver of the Honda, identified as Joseph N. Clary, 40, of Chester, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Clary has been charged with reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.

Firefighters rescue woman from Kent house fire

Firefighters rescued a woman trapped in the basement during a Kent house fire at about 9:30 a.m. Monday in the 26100 block of 114th Avenue Southeast. Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority firefighters were dispatched to a report of a fire with someone possibly trapped, according to a Puget Sound Fire media release.

Vancouver Fire Department crews finalizing new homes

Nearly one year after Vancouver’s new Fire Station 1 and 2 opened, construction is coming to a close. Deputy Chief Doug Koellermeier likened it to moving into a new house: You don’t know what problems will arise or what won’t work quite right until you start living in the space. Among the most noticeable problems were the resounding echoes throughout the stations.

Warehouse Fire in Orondo Causes $12 Million in Damages

Orondo Fire was Dispatched at 5:20 PM to the report of a fire in the Commercial area of downtown Orondo. First units arriving found a large fire burning in the Pine Canyon Fruit Packing complex. On fire was a large shipping warehouse associated with an apple packing facility. A second alarm was dispatched due to the size of the building and extent of the fire.
