Spokane Fire Department selects new deputy chief

The Spokane Fire Department announced Tuesday that Rex Strickland III has been selected as the department's new deputy fire chief. Chief Strickland will be the training chief, overseeing both recruit and incumbent training, health and safety, and recruitment. He will begin on Monday, July 30. Chief Strickland has been working in fire service for 29 years, beginning in 1992.

Firefighters stomp out Moses Lake blaze

On a Columbia Basin night where there was little wind firefighters were able to stomp out a wildfire near Moses Lake Monday afternoon before it got out of control. Woman found guilty of murder and arson in deaths of two Kansas City firefighters

Thu Hong Nguyen was found guilty Monday of murder and arson in the deaths of Kansas City firefighters John Mesh and Larry Leggio. Arizona Police: Woman opened fire on first responders at crash scene

Authorities say a crash took a scary turn for first responders in the west Valley when the driver involved in the crash started shooting at them. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened after a woman crashed her car in a desert area near Perryville Road and Olive Avenue on Sunday night.

2 Colorado firefighters hurt when truck falls into sink hole

Two Hanover firefighters and another driver were taken to the hospital after a crash early Tuesday morning, according to 9NEWS sister station KOAA. A van was swept into a sinkhole near Old Pueblo Rd and Birdsall Rd in Fountain around 2:30 in the morning. The driver of the van left the scene but minutes later, another car was swept away, KOAA reported.
