Rattlesnake Fire grows to 2,700 acres; 75% contained

The Rattlesnake Fire in Ferry County has burned 2,700 acres, according to officials. The fire has affected areas close to Seven Bays, 45 miles southeast of Keller, and west of the Lincoln boat launch. The fire is 75 percent contained as of Monday morning, officials said. Two-hundred firefighters are working on containment and material work.

Wind-fueled fire in Everett destroys two homes

In a video that Andrew Kim sent KIRO7, you can hear someone saying, “You can feel the heat from here,” about a block away. “They were both pretty heavily involved by the time we got here. There were flames through the roof,” said Leslie Hynes of the South County Fire Department. A neighbor told KIRO7 she saw smoke coming out the house further north first.

Spokane Valley water rescue training leads to actual water rescue

An interview about water rescue training on Saturday afternoon turned into an actual water rescue. This is why Spokane Valley Fire Rescue crews train every single Saturday for water rescues. This woman is the person we rescued earlier today when we approached her in the knee-deep water she wasn't wearing her life jacket; the life jacket had been strapped on the back of her kayak.

Kitchen fire damages popular Mexican eatery in Yakima

Flames topped the roof of a family-owned restaurant Saturday in West Valley. Mercedes & Family, at the corner of South 56th Avenue and Tieton Drive, caught fire about noon. Fire officials believe the fire started in the kitchen, said Yakima Fire shift commander Jennifer Norton. Customers and workers evacuated the restaurant as well as Joy Garden, a Korean restaurant in the neighboring building, Norton said.

Lynnwood duplex fire displaces 5 residents; no one hurt

A duplex in north Lynnwood caught fire Friday morning, displacing five residents. Three people sleeping in the duplex were awakened when a passing driver stopped, honked and yelled that there was a fire, South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said. Two other tenants weren’t home.
