More than 30 firefighters from across the Upper Yakima Valley responded to a fire that injured one person and damaged a Lancaster Road home Wednesday morning. A resident of 600 Lancaster Road returned home about 7 a.m. to find a fire burning on the ground floor of the house, according to Selah Deputy Fire Chief Jim Lange.

The Seattle Fire Department ruled Wednesday that Tuesday night’s large barge fire on the Duwamish River was accidental and it estimated damage at $1 million. A fire heavily damaged two classrooms inside an exterior building at Gig Harbor's Harbor Heights Elementary School Wednesday. Firefighters were called to the school around 3:30 p.m. for reports of the fire and found flames coming out of one of the portable classroom buildings. They were able to keep the flames from spreading beyond the portable, Gig Harbor Fire officials said.

A Spokane man has been arrested on arson and harassment charges after he tried to burn down a neighbor's home According to probable cause documents, police were called to a house on N. Crestline Monday night by a woman who said her son was mentally unstable and had booby trapped the house, and possibly made other weapons.
