Wildfire burns 2,800 acres of Richland nuclear reservation

A wildfire spread quickly about 2,800 acres of the Hanford nuclear reservation Sunday night. No radiologically contaminated areas or buildings burned, said Rae Moss, spokeswoman for Mission Support Alliance, the Hanford contractor in charge of the Hanford Fire Department. Grant County wildfire destroys four buildings

A large wildfire destroyed four buildings in southern Grant County in the town of Schwana on Sunday. Grant County Fire District 8, 10 and 11 responded to the wildfire report on the west side of state Route 243. The blaze burned at least one structure, which the Grant County Sheriff’s Office reports was a temporary residence, and three non-residential buildings.

Kussmaul Leadership Change

Effective on May 29, 2018, Dale Tompkins assumed the the role of president at Kussmaul Electronics. After a very successful time as president of Kussmaul, it’s Thomas Nugent’s desire to focus on engineering, new products, and business development. Since Nugent was instrumental in growing Kussmaul, he actively participated in the search process and will be supporting the ramp up of Tompkins.

Tompkins comes to Kussmaul with a track record of success. He is experienced in the emergency, warning, and vocational vehicle space, having served as president and CEO of Code 3, a provider of lighting and warning products for emergency responders, utility service fleets, and industrial settings. Prior to Code 3, Dale was part of marine leader Brunswick Corporation, where he served in senior corporate and business leadership roles. Tompkins is a native of Wisconsin and has a B.S. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse, and an MBA from the University of Minnesota.

In his role, Tompkins will be responsible for driving the profitable growth of Kussmaul Electronics including its expansion into new vertical markets such as the vocational truck market. To that end, his dual title includes Market Segment President for Specialty Vehicle Power. Tompkins will have direct responsibility for all functions within Kussmaul’s West Sayville, New York, facility.

House fire burns through Gig Harbor home, kills two pets

Gig Harbor firefighters tackled house fire in the city Monday afternoon in which two pets were killed and a third went missing. North Carolina fire chief dies following training class

A local fire department is grieving after their chief passed away Sunday night after he went into cardiac arrest following a training. Hyde County Emergency Services says Engelhard Fire & Rescue Chief Tony Spencer III died shortly after the fire department held a prayer service for him. Spencer went into cardiac arrest a few hours following a Firefighter I & II hose certification class Thursday evening, May 31.
