Las Vegas shooting survivor finally reunited with her rescuer, a retired Los Angeles firefighter

Rosemarie Melanson can barely remember hearing a man speak to her after she was shot in the Las Vegas massacre. She soon blacked out and wouldn't recall anything about the next few weeks. The mother of four would spend six months in a hospital and endure nine surgeries. Last week, she finally got a chance to meet the retired Los Angeles firefighter who her family says saved her life.

New Poulsbo fire chief named

Poulsbo Fire Department Deputy Chief Jim Gillard will become the agency's new fire chief July 1 following the retirement of current Fire Chief Jeff Griffin. Gillard has held a variety of roles with the Poulsbo Fire Department since he was hired as a firefighter and EMT in 1996, the department said in a news release.

Garfield County Fire Shaves Heads in Support of Son of Idaho firefighter

A Coeur d'Alene firefighter's two-and-a-half-year-old son is in the fight of his life. Maddex McKeirnan has a form of cancer in the eye. Maddex's father Kellan grew up in Pomeroy, and knows the Garfield county firefighters well. Firefighters from across the Inland Northwest have come together in support of one of their very own.

Firefighters put out five brush fires along highway I-82 near Sunnyside

Firefighters are warning people to be cautious when driving on roads and highways after a brush fire was started near Sunnyside. Firefighters responded to five brush fires along highway I-82. The right lane on the highway was closed off for several hours but it's now open. Yakima County Fire District 5 Captain Bryan Bauer says, they don’t know what started the fires but they believe it could’ve been someone driving by.

Region: Teen who started Gorge fire may have to repay $37 million

A teenager who started a huge wildfire in the scenic Columbia River Gorge in Oregon could owe more in restitution that he will earn in a lifetime. Eleven requests for restitution totaling almost $37 million have been submitted to a court. That covers the costs of firefighting, repair and restoration to the gorge and damage to homes.
