Four Hancock County fire departments have received money from the State Fire Marshal’s Office for equipment. Â
A total of $1.2 million was awarded to 127 fire departments in 63 counties in Ohio.
The grants help offset the cost of equipment to local governments. Â
In Hancock County, fire departments in Washington Township, Arlington, Jenera and Liberty Township each obtained $10,000 for protective clothing and related items.
Winchester Fire-EMS recently got a financial boost for its fire investigation division. The department was awarded a $2,077 grant from FM Global, an insurance company with an office in Lexington. The company offers grants every year, but departments that receive a grant can not receive another for three years, Winchester Fire-EMS firefighter Jonathan Beam said.
