Crews attempt to recover body after fall at Palouse Falls

Crews are now attempting to recover a body from the waters at Palouse Falls after a person fell from the top of the 200-foot waterfall, according to KHQ. A person called Franklin County Sheriff’s Office around 1 p.m. after they saw a friend fall into the water and fail to resurface, according to the Spokesman-Review.

Pittsburgh (PA) Fire Apparatus Custom Built to Handle Turns on Narrow Streets

The standard width in other cities is 101 inches, according to the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department.  

They also come with rubber on fender guards and mouldings to lessen damage if a truck brushes against something. Elevated, tapered rear ends will make it easier to run the trucks around tight turns.

“They meed our daily service needs, they're durable and they hold up well in the city environment,” Assistant Chief Thomas Cook said.

The trucks will be operational in June. One will be housed at Station 14 in Oakland and the other in Station 30 in Elliott.

Ford Temporarily Shuts Down F-Series Truck Production Due to Fire

Ford is shutting down F-150 truck production at its Dearborn, Mich., factory, after having already idled its Kansas City plant that also makes the popular and highly profitable model. The automaker also has stopped building F-Series Super Duty pickups at a factory in Kentucky, though it continues to make them in Ohio. The shutdowns will adversely impact Ford's second-quarter earnings, but the company expects to compensate for this later.  

The fire in the supplier plant lingered and was difficult to contain because the magnesium that ignited couldn't be extinguished with water. Meridian plant manager George Asher told Automotive News that the company is working to move dies for stamping parts to its plants in Ontario and the U.K.

IndyCar Driver Drives Fire Apparatus to Raise Organ Donation Awareness

Mann drove a Carmel fire ladder truck in order to help raise awareness for organ donation. Mann is the spokesperson for Donate Life Indiana and the group is the main sponsor of her Indy 500 entry.
