Fayette County (PA) Fire Department Burglarized

Once inside, they took two Milwaukee Sawzalls valued at $800 and a Stanley hand tool set valued at $150.  

They also took $500 from a jukebox, and $400 from an arcade game.

 

The burglar or burglars caused about $6,200 in damage, police said.

Bristol (UK) Fire Apparatus Blocked by Parked Cars

The crew from Southmead fire station were called to an incident of arson by the police at just after 3am on the morning of Bank Holiday Monday, May 7, but they had to reach the fire on foot, because the fire engine could not fit through the streets.

The incident happened in the Bishopston area of the city, but thankfully was only a minor fire, and no one needed rescuing or was injured.  

Police officers called Avon Fire and Rescue Service to the scene of a fire where someone had piled up rubbish and set it on fire.

Dorchester (SC) Celebrates Fire Apparatus Arrival

After a brief ceremony and blessing, three members of the department stood in front of the shiny red vehicle and aimed fire hoses at it, then county officials and firefighters together pushed the $435,638 truck into its bay. 

 

Until last year, the Ladson Road station was home to the headquarters of Old Fort Fire Department. But in an effort to create countywide fire protection in the growing county, Dorchester County and the 46-year-old department merged.

 

Dorchester County Fire-Rescue was formed in 2013 by the merger of several rural and volunteer departments throughout the county. Before that, there were 11 separate fire departments in the county.

Snohomish County Crews rescue injured climber on Saturday at Index Town Wall

An injured climber was rescued at Index Town Wall after falling 20 feet on Saturday. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue unit and Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue responded at 10:45 a.m. May 5. Fire District 26 personnel made first contact with the climber, who had sustained a serious back injury from a 20-foot fall, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

USFA: Las Vegas On-Duty Death

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Captain Thelonious "Theo" Adams, 54, of Las Vegas Fire & Rescue on May 1, 2018.

Captain Thelonious “Theo” Adams succumbed to injuries sustained as a passenger in a fire apparatus rollover in October of 2003. Adams was paralyzed from the neck down in the crash that occurred while the apparatus was responding to a false alarm call on Halloween night.

To date, 35 firefighter fatalities have been reported to USFA in 2018.  Year-to-date and annual USFA firefighter fatality reports are posted online at https://www.usfa.fema.gov/data/statistics/ff_fatality_reports.html

Fatality status is provisional and may change as USFA contacts State Fire Marshals to verify fatality incident information.
