A 10,000-acre fire burning along Highway 14 in the Columbia River Gorge Tuesday evening has forced the closure of the highway and evacuation orders.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, the fire started on Highway 14 and is burning on Bureau of Indian Affairs and private land.

The Yakima Office of Emergency Management along with Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies and other authorities worked Tuesday to evacuate about 400 hundred kids and employees of summer camps in the Clear Lake area as a growing wildfire near White Pass threatened the area.
Three camps at the lake were evacuated Tuesday after the area was put under a Level 3 evacuation notice.

A 48-year-old woman in mental crisis, who reportedly was about to be evicted from her Bremerton house, was hospitalized late Monday after allegedly dousing the interior in gasoline and setting in on fire.

Hillsborough County will reopen its review of four paramedics facing discipline in the case of a stroke patient who died, saying it needs to know more about why the medics decided not to transport her during an emergency call.
County Administrator Mike Merrill announced the decision after the paramedics gave statements during closed hearings into the matter Tuesday at County Center.

According to the Asheville Fire Department, for the second time in North Carolina history, a firefighter death caused by cancer is being determined by the Industrial Commission as a “line of duty death.” The fire department says this decision means his family will receive a survivor’s benefit.
