Staunton fire engine damaged

The crew using Engine 1 had just finished washing the rig and went inside the station for EMS training when the driver of the SUV struck the engine.

"Thank goodness they weren't still out there!" read the post.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital, according to a fire official in Staunton.

Orange resident customizes replicas of town fire trucks

The Brush Truck 8 model presented a challenge for Sylvester because of the large amount of customization it required. It’s also the most current model — the only replica of his that depicts a vehicle still on the fire department’s roster.

Indeed, Brush Truck 8 started as an average pickup truck model Sylvester bought from a hobby shop and assembled.

Sylvester painted the plastic model, even adding bronze-colored rust on the undercarriage.

Arsonist Martin Pang who set 1995 warehouse fire that killed 4 Seattle firefighters to be released this fall

Martin Pang, the convicted arsonist who set a warehouse fire that killed four Seattle firefighters in 1995, will be released from prison this fall. The King County Prosecutor’s Office said Pang, who was convicted of four counts of manslaughter, will be out of prison Sept. 27 He being held in a minimum custody cell at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla.

New Orleans Fire Dept. captain promotions were unconstitutional, but little can be done now, civil service ruling says

The New Orleans Fire Department ran afoul of the state constitution when it promoted dozens of firefighters to the rank of captain even though they ranked lower than many other eligible candidates on a promotion exam, the city's Civil Service Commission said in a 33-page ruling issued Thursday. But the ruling won’t help those who were passed over to climb the ranks, and it won’t strip the 41 who were promoted of their posts.

After threatening fire chief, California fire district chair is demoted

The Rodeo-Hercules Fire District recently voted to remove the chair from his position after alleged harassment and threats, including a threat to “crucify” the interim fire chief. The Rodeo-Hercules Fire District board voted on May 9 to remove Ernest Wheeler as chair of the board after an internal investigation, among other things, found that Wheeler had threatened to “crucify” acting Fire Chief Bryan Craig over a disagreement on the use of district funds.
