Firefighter rescues 3-day-old puppy who fell down vent in Auburn

A newborn puppy is back safe with his mom after falling down a heater vent at a home in Auburn. Valley Regional Fire Authority (VRFA) responded to a call Sunday that a 3-day-old puppy had fallen down a vent and far out of reach. The engine crew from Station 32 arrived and crawled under the home. They removed a heat duct and found the tiny pup.

Suspect arrested following two Monday morning fires in Yakima

One person has been arrested in the investigation of two Monday morning fires in Yakima. Crews with the Yakima Fire Department (YFD) went to a burning home at the 1300 block of Cherry Avenue, around 7:40 a.m., Monday to find flames at the back side of the building spreading to the inside of the house.

Fire Destroys Abandoned Chehalis Wastewater Plant

A fire broke out early Sunday morning at Chehalis’ abandoned wastewater treatment plant on Shoreline Road, destroying a former administration building, according to the Chehalis Fire Department. Crews responded to the fire at 5:08 a.m. Sunday at the address in the 1100 block of NW Shoreline Road after dispatchers received reports of smoke in the area.

North Carolina fire chief killed after car overturns, catches fire on interstate

A North Carolina fire chief was killed after a car overturned and caught fire on I-40 in Iredell County Sunday. Chief Richard Sales, 52, of Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department was killed in the crash. He was on his way to accept an award on behalf of the fire department at Child Passenger Safety Conference in Wilmington when the crash happened.

One dead after fire breaks out at Trump Tower apartment in New York City

A man found critically injured after an apartment fire at Trump Tower in New York City on Saturday has died, police said. President Donald Trump, first lady Melania and their son, Barron, were in Washington, D.C., a spokesperson said. The Fire Department of New York commissioner earlier said that firefighters found the occupant of an apartment on the 50th floor and he was transported to a hospital and was in critical condition.
