A man has died from his injuries after he was struck by a Phoenix Fire Department vehicle as it was leaving a station, according to officials. The incident occurred Monday near 12th Avenue and Pierce Street around 11:37 a.m., police said. The man was taken to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Chicago Fire Department diver Juan Bucio, who died last week while trying to rescue a missing boater, was laid to rest on Monday. Hundreds attended the funeral at St. Rita High School Chapel on the Southwest Side, where Bucio's casket - draped in a Chicago flag - arrived via a CFD fire engine to the sounds of bagpipes.

Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz announced today her appointment of George Geissler as Washington State Forester and Deputy Supervisor for Wildfire. Geissler, who joined the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) on May 29, will be responsible for day-to-day management of the state’s largest on-call fire department.
