Ashland (TN) City Council Approves Bid for Training Facility

The council voted in June to accept a regional FEMA Department of Homeland Security grant, which totals $650,000. Funding from FEMA will cover 90 percent of the project, and the town and county will contribute a 10-percent match for the facility.

Walker said Tuesday that “we have our match money…everything’s ready to go.”

Once the contract is signed, Walker said, the company will take about 180 days to build the structure, which he previously said he hoped to have in operation by late summer.

Chaska (MN) Fire Department Given Grant for Fire Equipment

Police Arrest Suspects in Atlanta Fire Station Break-In

Ayana Dayshina Forest, 22, and Elisha Howard Ross, 26, each entered guilty pleas to two counts of racketeering and 46 counts of entering auto for the crimes that occurred from January to June of 2017.   

Cobb Police Det. R. McElwain and Smyrna Police Det. J. Lanzing worked with law enforcement agencies across 17 counties to connect the dots between the entering autos and track down the perpetrators.

City College at MSU Billings Restore Fire Apparatus for Volunteer Firefighters

Eight students in the collision repair and refinishing class worked during the fall 2017 semester to restore a Type 4 wildland truck for the Park City Volunteer Fire Department. The department purchased the truck in Washington state to upgrade its fleet of wildland trucks, but determined it needed a new paint job.  

Wodrich had a small-town connection to the fire department and got the ball rolling for the class to restore the truck. He obtained approval from City College’s Advisory Board and approached community partners for donations to keep costs of the project down.
