Snohomish and Camano fire departments mourn Erik Shouse

Camano Island Fire & Rescue Commissioner and Snohomish Fire District 7 Firefighter Erik Shouse died unexpectedly at home Sunday morning, April 22. He is survived by his wife, a kindergarten teacher on Camano, and their two young daughters. Shouse was hired Jan. 6, 2003, as a firefighter/paramedic with Fire District 7 and has spent most of his career assigned to the Medic Unit at Station 76 in Mill Creek.

Chehalis Fire Dept. Awards Medal to Seattle Firefighter Who Pulled Man From Burning Truck

Two and a half months after he pulled a man from a burning pickup truck in Chehalis, Seattle firefighter Chris Quinlan received the Medal of Valor Monday from the Chehalis Fire Department. The Mossyrock resident was on his way to work in Seattle on Feb. 6 when he came across a crash on I-5, then stopped and a pulled a Centralia man from a truck that was engulfed in flames.

USFA: California Inmate Firefighter Trainee Dies During Hike

The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official on-duty death of Inmate Firefighter Trainee Anthony Colacino, of the Sierra Conservation Center - Califorina Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation on April 21, 2018.

Inmate Firefighter Trainee Anthony Colacino was participating in a training hike when he collapsed just before 0800hrs on April 21, 2018. Fellow inmate firefighters attempted to revive Colacino before other emergency services personnel took over care. Despite all efforts, Colacino succumbed to a nature and cause of fatal injury still to be determined.

Fatality status is provisional and may change as USFA contacts State Fire Marshals to verify fatality incident information.
