The Maynard Fire Department's new aerial ladder truck, the E-One Cyclone, was officially put into service on Oct. 20, Chief Anthony Stowers said in a press release.In August 2016, the department received a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for $750,000.
The new truck, manufactured by E-One in Florida, and purchased through Greenwood Emergency Vehicles in North Attleboro, came with a price tag of $1,016,000.
Voters approved the additional funds at the Jan. 9 special Town Meeting, authorizing the transfer of $266,567 from the town’s Capital Stabilization fund.
All of the firefighting apparatus has arrived in the Clackamas Fire District as of September, thanks to the $29 million general obligation bond approved by voters in May 2015. The 15 pieces of firefighting equipment valued at $7.7 million were manufactured by Pierce.
October is Fire Prevention Month and this year's theme is, "Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out" Clackamas Fire District will host community fire station open houses every Saturday during the month. At 10:19 a.m. Oct. 19, Clackamas Fire is asking for community participation in the "Great Shake Out."
