State legislator will propose three new wildfire mitigation bills in 2018 legislative session

Washington state legislator Tom Dent of Moses Lake says he hopes to get three new wildfire mitigation bills passed in the upcoming legislative session. The 2018 session starts Jan. 8. The newest piece of legislation drafted by Dent allows for the formation of Rangeland Fire Protection Associations.

House fire near Ephrata leaves mother, father injured; children able to escape unharmed

A family was displaced by a fire Monday night that destroyed their home and left the two parents injured. Firefighters responded about 9:30 p.m. to the 6300 block of Road B Northwest, about 10 miles south of Ephrata to find a home and vehicle fully-involved, according to Grant County Fire District 13.

Three-vehicle crash on I-5 in Vancouver closes 2 lanes; firefighters free man from SUV

Vancouver firefighters freed a man from his SUV on Tuesday afternoon by breaking the windshield of his vehicle, one of three involved in a crash on Interstate 5, according to a Clark County Fire District 6 spokesman. The man’s SUV rolled and ended up on its side on the right shoulder of I-5 just south of the 78th Street onramp, said Fire District 6 public information officer Dave Schmitke.
