Abandoned home burns in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood

A fire in an abandoned home in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood kept firefighters busy Friday morning. Flames were found shooting from the home in the 5600 block of Brooklyn Avenue just after 5 a.m. Firefighters had to fight the fire from the outside, eventually getting it under control within an hour.

Round Rock Fire Department Adding 2 Vehicles to Fleet

Rescue truck back in service in Pittsylvania County

With some small upgrades to the truck, and some additional training of the 30-member team assigned to it, the truck designated as Rescue One will be a specialized rescue and rapid intervention team for the southern end of the county.

And it will be done for 20 percent of the original asking price.

New vehicle for Heartland Fire could be hot item nationwide

The department earlier this month started sending firefighters out to some crisis situations in the new emergency vehicle to take some of the heat off the department’s big engine trucks.

Because it costs less and requires fewer personnel, it’s an attractive alternative for departments trying to manage budgets and lower response times.

The primary mission of Squad 6 is to respond to low-acuity medical emergencies, freeing up the department’s Engine 6 and Truck 6 to respond to more significant emergencies.
