West Virginia fire department ambulance hit by gunfire

Police are looking for a gunman after a Charleston ambulance was hit by gunfire Tuesday morning. Charleston Police say medics responded to a call around 2:50 a.m. for a man with leg pain near Central Avenue and Vine Street. Police say after the ambulance arrived, shots rang out and that the person in need of medical attention ran and took cover.

Kayaker drowns in Wenatchee River

One man is dead after getting separated from his kayak and drowning in the Wenatchee River Tuesday afternoon. A 911 call was made around 1:25 p.m. from a witness on the eastern bank of the river who noticed an empty kayak floating on the river. The witness saw a man in the water behind the kayak and stated it appeared he was trying to catch up to the kayak.

Spokane Fire Department launches drone program

Accurate information, and getting it quickly, is essential for emergency first responders. The Spokane Fire Department is working to bolster both with its new drone program. Nearly a year after Spokane City Council gave the OK for the city's fire department to use the unmanned aircraft, the program is getting off the ground.
