Arlington's Bruce Stedman selected as preferred fire chief candidate for new RFA

The Fire District 1 Board of Commissioners and two members of the Lynnwood City Council, who will serve on the transition board for the newly approved South Snohomish County Fire and Rescue Regional Fire Authority (RFA), unanimously selected Bruce Stedman as their preferred candidate for Fire Chief. Stedman is currently the chief of the Arlington Fire Department, which is a position he has held since 2010.

Man Injured When Vehicle Strikes Responding Fire Truck

A man was taken to a hospital early Tuesday when the pickup truck he was driving struck a fire truck that was responding to an earlier rain-related accident on Interstate 35 near Ottawa in Franklin County, authorities said. The incident occurred at 6:28 a.m.
The Topeka Capitol-Journal reported on a civilian-vs.-fire-apparatus collision in Kansas that left one man injured. The fire truck was unoccupied at the time of the incident, the report said.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2000 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling north on I-35 when it went off the roadway for about 150 feet then came back onto the road, where it struck a fire truck that was assisting with a separate accident

Virginia firefighter nearly crushed in blaze: 'No time to even think'

VIDEO - A Petersburg firefighter was almost crushed on the job on Monday morning after part of a home collapsed while he battled flames. "There was so much fire you couldn't see where the door was,” said Cody Edlin, one of two firefighters injured. In no time, the front porch of the home on South Dunlop Street collapsed, falling on the firefighters.

Charge filed in Michigan fire chief’s death

A criminal charge was filed Tuesday against a driver in connection to the death of the Comstock Township fire chief, who was killed in the line of duty in June. Brandon Clevenger, 24, of Springfield faces a charge of reckless driving causing death, court records show. The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the charge is connected to the death of Chief Ed Switalski.
