The Cake Lady of Lynnwood feeds her firefighter family

Tanya Rae Piper is a stylist at Salon Zuberenz in Lynnwood. She works there five days a week, and her clients will tell you she's caring and hard-working and engaging. But most of them probably don't know the half of it. There's this other thing that Tanya does away from the salon. When she leaves the salon and goes to the home she shares with her mom, Jan, Tanya doesn't even slow down.

Three Injured in Crash Involving Burlington (KY) Ambulance

Three people were injured in a crash involving a Burlington EMS unit in Boone county Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened at the intersection of Mall Road and KY 18 in Florence. According to officials, the ambulance was T-boned by another car in the intersection. One patient was being transported in the ambulance when the crash happened.
Investigators said the fire personnel and patient in the ambulance were not injured, but three people in the other car involved in the crash were hurt.

Monroe (MI) Fire station Design, Cost Talks Ongoing

Monroe City Council is still shaping what the new Central Fire Station will look like. During its work session Monday, Vincent Pastue, city manager, said there could be a "substantial" cost reduction with a single-story facility. "When the discussion of the fire station was at Scott St., we were looking at two stories," Pastue said.
Pastue said the cost reduction could be as much as $400,000.

“We do feel it does provide a better firefighter-PSO (public safety officer) integration and has greater flexibility for the police addition if we go that way,” Pastue said. “I think the scale is more fitting with the neighborhood.”

New Fire Apparatus for New Canaan (CT) Fire Department

Work has begun on a new pumper truck for the New Canaan Fire Department, according to the below post on the department's Twitter page. "This new pumper will be known as 'Engine 7' and will run as the primary engine," wrote New Canaan fire officials in a statement.
Marion Body Works, Inc., located in Marion, Wisconsin, is building the truck, which is similar to one the company delivered to the department in 2014.
