Kunes Country Ford (WI) Donates Fire Apparatus to Fontana Fire Department

Gregg Kunes (right) of Kunes Country Ford, Delavan, presents Fontana Fire Chief Wolfgang Nitsch and the village of Fontana with a 2017 F350 pickup truck at the Monday meeting of the Fontana Village Board. Nitsch said the new truck will be used to fight brush and grass fires, transport personnel to incident scenes, tow Fontana’s 26-foot Lake Assault fire boat and to pull the department’s special operations trailer which carries water rescue and dive equipment.

New Fire Apparatus to go into Service in Lincoln (NE)

The public is invited to welcome a new fire truck into service in Lincoln. Fire Station 8 is unveiling a new truck on Wednesday. As part of the ceremony, Lincoln Fire and Rescue will continue the long tradition of driving the older fire truck out of the station and pushing the new one in.
The ceremony is at 3 p.m. at Fire Station 8 at 17th and Van Dorn. The new truck 8 is the second of five new trucks to be put into service this year.

Seattle: New Charges after angry janitor torched 2 U-District buildings, fled to Los Angeles

A man charged with setting fire to two University District buildings last month reportedly told detectives he was mad at his boss and contemplated fleeing to Mexico before turning himself in. Prosecutors accuse the 24-year-old man of setting fire to the University Heights Center, where he worked as a janitor, early on the morning of July 22, before he headed south and set the Agua Verde Cafe and Paddle Club ablaze.

Fire crews knock down brush fire near Highway 195 and Thorpe in Spokane

Department of Natural Resources crews say a fire near Highway 195 and Thorpe has been knocked down Tuesday evening. The fire was brought under control quickly and was only about 4 acres in size. It was called out as a second alarm fire so resources from several fire districts responded. Initially about five homes were threatened but structure protection crews were able to keep the houses safe.

Minnesota Chief Says Saving Woman's Life is 'Part of the Job'

VIDEO - A passerby captured the moment a St. Paul firefighter and two St. Paul police officers rescued a woman standing on the edge of a bridge on Tuesday. District Fire Chief Conrad Ertz pulled the woman off the ledge. He told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS helping people in their times of need is just part of the job.
