Lee County's Emergency Medical Services will soon have its own substation in North Fort Myers. The North Fort Myers Fire District station off Trail Dairy Circle currently shares its space with an EMS crew. Both chiefs for the departments said it was time for a change because of overcrowding.

During the past few weeks, the building adjacent to the Ridgeland Fire Station on Railroad Avenue has been under renovation. The final product: a weight and exercise room available to all town of Ridgeland employees.

Huntsville firefighters will soon be able to better serve the community with the newest addition to the fleet. The Huntsville Fire Department recently received the 2017 Ferrara pumper truck at Fire Station No. 2 that City Council approved to purchase last winter, and it should be running the streets in the next week or two.

A firefighting tradition of spraying water and a good wiping down marked the start Tuesday of a new fire engine’s career with the Bluefield Fire Department. The new 2017 Seagrave Pumper fire engine, a state of the art front line pumper, is replacing one engine, a 2007 HME Engine 1, at the department’s central station, Fire Chief Rick Cary said. The 2007 engine will be sent to Station 3 on Cumberland Road to replace a 20-year-old American LaFrance engine which will be placed as a reserve at the central station. The old LaFrance engine was retired Tuesday after 20 years of service.
