Florida Fire Truck Involved In Deadly Crash On Expressway

VIDEO - Miami-Dade firefighters were saved by one of their trucks during an emergency call on the Palmetto Expressway. Overnight, fire crews were called to assist in a hit and run accident in the southbound lanes of the highway between Okeechobee Road and NW 74th Street. Arriving crews used a fire engine to block off two lanes of traffic while they helped the injured driver.

New Hampshire boy, 6, believed to be state’s youngest OD case revived by firefighters

Firefighters sprayed Narcan up the nose of a 6-year-old boy this week, reviving the unconscious child from a suspected opioid poisoning — a traumatic event that, according to authorities, could be the youngest overdose victim ever in the Granite State’s biggest city. “The fact is that it’s a kid that could be our own kids’ age,” said Christopher Hickey, who oversees the Manchester Fire Department’s emergency medical services.

Western Washington not Immune From Wildfire Risk

Wildland fires in the United States are becoming commonplace. There have been significant fires all throughout the West and British Columbia in the last month with individual homes and even neighborhoods being lost to fire. In California, the wildland fire season is now year-round. Typically, the wildland fire season here in Washington begins in June and heats up in the months of July, August and September.

Pasco Fire Department preps new recruits for real flames

Firefighting is not an easy job, and today we experienced some of the intense training Pasco Fire Department leaders put their new recruits through. A group of three firefighters burst into a burning building, but the smoke was just a simulation, and the victims just dummies. All this was part of a ten-week training academy to prepare new recruits for real fires.

Two brush fires burn near Wapato miles apart

Fire crews are working to extinguish two brush fires near Wapato. Authorities said one brush fire burned 10 acres, located to the right of I-82 eastbound roads near milepost 47 and 50, Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews said the fire is completely controlled. Another brush fire is burning about a mile and a half away and has burned 80 acres.
