Yakima firefighters and police investigating three suspicious fires

Yakima Police and Firefighters are investigating three suspicious fires that started Wednesday morning. Firefighters tell NBC Right Now they were originally responding to a dumpster fire near Walnut and 7th Street around 4:00 a.m. On their way, they found a house on fire on the 200 Block of South 7th Street.

Elderly woman found safe after early morning house fire in Federal Way

A 92-year-old woman who originally was reported missing early Wednesday after her home was gutted by fire has now been located alive and safe. Fire crews rushed to the scene, in the 700 block of SW 310th Street, at about 5 a.m. after receiving a 911 call about smoke and flames spewing from the single-story home, said Deputy Battalion Chief Dave Mataftin of South King Fire & Rescue.

Benton, Franklin County fire departments are in desperate need of volunteers

Firefighters said the number of calls are going up, but their fighting force is going down. Both Benton and Franklin Counties rely heavily on volunteer firefighters and need more. "Without the volunteers we couldn't survive," Benton County Fire District #4 Captain Ed Dunbar said. Dunbar started as a volunteer firefighter in 1983, and 20 years later he turned firefighting into a career.

Honolulu fire officials detail horror, challenges of deadly fire in hopes that building codes will change

Three rookie Ohio firefighters save one of their own

It didn’t take long for some local firefighters to save a life, even though they had just finished their training. The three new hires made a life-saving rescue in their own fire station.Brock Trimmer, of Beloit, Sebastian Zlotkowski of Cleveland, and Ronnie Simone, of Warren, were all hired as Warren City firefighters earlier this year.
