Fire Engine Caused Manea Fire Station Collapse

A fire station collapsed after a fire engine hit it during a training session, an investigation has found. Part of Manea station in Cambridgeshire collapsed on top of the vehicle on 6 April. No-one was hurt but the station has still not reopened.

Both the engine and the building were damaged during the weekly training session at the small station.


The engine remained embedded in the building for a week.


Work to rebuild the engine bay is almost complete and firefighters are expected to return to the station next month.


"We're all looking forward to returning to the station," said Watch Commander Mark Milner.

Cankton Fire Department Gets New Fire Trucks

In a show of friendship, Abbeville's fire department will be selling two gently used trucks to the Cankton Fire Department.

Abbeville recently received two new trucks, and knowing there was a need in St. Landry Parish, offered the trucks below their appraised value to accommodate the village's budget.


"The bigger cities that have the tax base can afford a few more things than the villages and the small towns and without that handout, we wouldn't be able to do the things that we do as a small village," said Cankton Mayor Kevin Colligan.

Fire Truck Overturns on Way to Fire, Two Injured

Two firefighters were transported to CMC with non life-threatening injuries after their firetruck overturned on the way to a fire alarm call Saturday. DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson Fire Department Engine 1 rolled over on June Washam Road on the way to a fire alarm call Saturday morning in Davidson, North Carolina according to Davidson officials, injuring two firefighters.

The two firefighters were transported to the hospital by Medic with non life threatening injuries.


A third firefighter was sent to a hospital to also be checked out, although no third injury was reported.

Level 3 evacuation orders in place for wildfire burning in Grant County

Level 3 evacuations are in place in Grant County due to a large brush fire burning in the Upper Goose Lake recreation area north of Othello. Level 3 evacuations mean that residents must leave immediately. Deputies with the Grant County Sheriff's Office say the fire is burning in the wildlife refuge at Upper Goose Lake.

Early Saturday morning fire damages residence in Lacey

Fire damaged a residence in Lacey early Saturday morning, according to Lacey Fire District 3. But it wasn’t your typical fire, Battalion Chief Pat Harn said Sunday. It was hidden, he said. Fire crews were dispatched to the 4700 block of 39th Court Southeast about 4:30 a.m. Saturday. After they arrived, the house was filled with a light haze, but there was no sign of fire, Harn said.
