The fire company serving Mercersburg and the surrounding area has received a large grant from the Department of Homeland Security to cover the cost of new equipment. U.S. Representative Bill Shuster, R-Hollidaysburg, announced this past week that the MMP&W Volunteer Fire Company received a Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant in the amount of $142,858.
"Serving three townships and borough is a difficult task, but it’s even more difficult when you don’t have safe equipment," said Rep. Bill Shuster, in a news release. "I’m excited to share the news that the volunteers of MMP&W will be receiving the necessary funds to acquire a new brush truck so they will be better able to serve Mercersburg and the surrounding area."
