Rescue crews pull man up from rocks beneath Monroe Street Bridge in Spokane

Emergency crews worked Wednesday night to rescue a man from the rocks below the viewing area beneath the Monroe Street Bridge Wednesday evening. Firefighters on the scene told KHQ the man was critically injured when he landed on the rocks below and did not make it to the water of the Spokane River. The man was in critical condition Wednesday evening.

Woman held for allegedly starting 5 fires in Marysville

A woman is in custody for allegedly starting five fires in Marysville Wednesday afternoon. Just after 2:10 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 11000 block of State Avenue for a report of smoke coming from an abandoned home. Firefighters observed flames and launched a defensive attack to control the blaze.

Michigan fire chief killed while responding to crash along interstate

Comstock Township Fire Chief Edward Switalski was hit and killed by a passing vehicle while responding to an “unknown accident” on eastbound I-94, Kalamazoo County authorities say. Breakaway Maryland volunteer firefighters sue city, fire chief

Volunteer firefighters who separated from the Salisbury Fire Department Station 1 in February are suing the city and its fire chief for the return of equipment and other items they say belong to them, including religious pictures and a 60-inch Christmas wreath. The firefighters also are seeking $494,316 in damages in the case filed recently in District Court.
