A teen is in critical condition after he was pulled from Lake Washington in a Monday morning water rescue, emergency officials said. Grant Could Help Update Danville (IL) Fire Technology

The city is pursuing a grant that could help save lives. It would fund technology updates for the fire department. Officials with the city say it would help them get to fires faster.
The biggest updates would be putting cameras at railroad crossings. That way, the department would know which routes to avoid, and dispatchers would know immediately if they need to reroute fire calls. That could speed up response times and in some cases save lives.

The fire union chief says that when it comes to fires, seconds and minutes matter. He said a fire can double in size every minute. City officials say that's why grants like these are so important, especially with the uncertainty of the state budget and the cuts that forces on the department.

Cool Springs (NC) Completes New Fire Station

The Cool Springs Volunteer Fire Department has a new home. The new Station One on Mocksville Highway, nearly across the street from the old station, was officially completed on Saturday when the department moved its fire trucks. With 24,000 square feet of space, the $4 million building will give the department room to grow in the coming decades, Fire Chief Andy Webster said.
Construction on Cool Springs’ fire station began June 2016. The building has living space, added storage, a community room for rent, a gym and a full kitchen. Iredell EMS and Iredell Rescue Squad will both add emergency vehicles to the station in the coming months, and the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office will use the building for its patrol deputies.
