NORWOOD - After spending 60 percent of its budget this year on repairs to a 1997 pumper firetruck, the fire department is in the market for a new one. The council approved bonding for the truck at $768,000 and another $100,000 for extras such as radios and hoses.
Three vehicles currently make up the department's fleet - a 1984 Hahn pumper, a 1997 3-D and a Seagraves. The 1997 3-D is having maintenance issues and the manufacturer has gone out of business. Norwood does not have a ladder truck and depends on mutual aid for coverage when one is needed.
