Inside Congers (NY) Fire Department's New $9.3M Firehouse

The future of the more than century-old Congers Fire Department can be seen along Route 9W. Monday was one of the busiest construction days at the site of the department's new $9.3 million firehouse, said 46-year firefighter Chris Wohl.
The nearly 20,400-square-foot firehouse located at the intersection of the state highway and Dr. Davies Road will be the 121-year-old department’s third building.

The station will have a four-door garage that will face northbound Route 9W, and an additional three doors that will be accessible through a rear entrance from Dr. Davies Drive.

Asheville (NC) Fire Station to be Named After Fallen Firefighter

Plans are in the works to rename an Asheville fire station. Fire Station 9, on Fairview Road, would be renamed in honor of Grady Wilson, Sr. Wilson is one of seven firefighters with the City of Asheville who was killed in the line of duty.
Chief Burnette says this would be the fourth fire station named after a fallen firefighter in the city, and Wilson's family asked for this particular station.

"The family has a connection to the Oakley community," Burnette said. "They have a connection to that area and that firehouse. Since old Station 3 where he was working on that tragic day where he died was no longer available, they felt Station 9 would be a good place to honor Grady Wilson."

"This is my fire truck, or 'micro dojo,'" Smith says in the video while describing his recent switch to living in the fire truck. "I've never lived in a vehicle before, I've never lived in a parking lot before, I wasn't sure if I would like it."
