VIDEO: More than 2,600 people in the United States were killed in a house fire in a five-year period, according to the National Fire Protection Association. The NFPA said almost $7 billion in property damages were caused during that same period. Local firefighters are urging more people to create an escape plan to increase safety and help saves lives.

New video from NewsChopper 9 shows what's left of a warehouse following a four-alarm fire last week. It took nearly 24 hours for Kansas City firefighters to get the fire at Pioneer Pallet under control. Three firefighters were hospitalized with injuries and nearly 200 were needed to combat it. Flames shot up more than 100-feet in the air at the peak of the fire.
