At least one person was rescued Wednesday as firefighters battled a large fire that spread to multiple apartment buildings in Hollywood.
The fire broke out around 5:21 p.m. at a building on 7764 W Hollywood Blvd., just east of Fairfax Avenue.
Investigators said two vehicles were spotted burning in a carport.

A Sammamish man tried to keep a fire at his home from spreading by using a garden hose until firefighters arrived, but flames left the house badly damaged.
Crews were called to the home on Windsor Drive Southeast at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday after a neighbor called 911.
According to a spokesperson for Eastside Fire & Rescue, when firefighters arrived, the homeowner was spraying the roof of the house.

Five years ago on Tuesday, a massive fire gutted a grocery store in north Phoenix, covering homes in ash. A monsoon storm caused a roof collapse, rupturing a gas line and sparking that fire at the Safeway store at 35th Avenue and Northern Avenue. Even with a huge response from firefighters, the store could not be saved.

VIDEO: A Chicago Fire Department firetruck flipped on its side after colliding with a car on the South Side Tuesday night.
The crash occurred at about 11:25 p.m. in the 300-block of East 79th Street, police said.
Police said a vehicle ran a red light and struck the firetruck, causing the fire truck to flip on its side.

PHOTOS: More than a dozen homes have been evacuated in Rolling Hills Estates, California, after the ground shifted, causing extensive damage, city and Los Angeles County officials said.
Twelve homes were red-tagged as of Monday night, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said on Twitter. Sixteen residents had been displaced by that point, the department said.
