New Fire Truck Goes into Service at Walla Walla Regional Airport

The Walla Walla Regional Airport has a new fire rig that can quickly take a bite out of flames. Called ARFF, for airport rescue and fire fighting, the engine will be used by Walla Walla County Fire District Four firefighters, who've spent the past two days training with it.

When the new model is put in service this month, the 1982 model will be auctioned and the 1996 truck will be relegated to backup duty, Skoglund said. The FAA recommends that ARFF vehicles be replaced at the 15-year mark, so with the newer model approaching 21 years in service, she said, “it was time to get it updated.”
