New Hampshire fire department to dissolve after 64 years

It served for decades, a firefighting powerhouse that lent equipment to local towns and training to area departments. But then times for the Meadowood County Area Fire Department changed, and fortunes slipped. Off-duty Salt Lake City firefighter assists victims after finding himself amid deadly Utah shooting

An off-duty firefighter happened to be driving through a Sandy neighborhood Tuesday when several shots were fired. Salt Lake City Fire Captain Tony Allred recounted the moments he sprang into action. He was driving his 8-year-old daughter to gymnastics when traffic got backed up on Alta Canyon Drive.

Indiana firefighter has warning for parents after daughter nearly chokes on fidget spinner part

Fidget spinners have become a must-have toy for many central Indiana children, but they may be more dangerous than parents realize. Some of the parts are very small and could pose a choking hazard if they pop off, as a Decatur Township firefighter discovered this week. Officials: Water safe to drink after fire foam contamination in Spokane suburb

Officials in the Spokane suburb of Airway Heights on Thursday said city tap water is now safe to drink, more than three weeks after tests found chemical contamination. On May 16, residents were told not to drink city water or use it to cook after tests by nearby Fairchild Air Force Base found groundwater tainted with two industrial chemicals used for years in firefighting foam and consumer products such as nonstick cookware.
