A firefighter’s sense of security was burned after a crook smashed his windows and took gear out of his car. It happened near 7th and Howard in Spokane.
Robert, who didn’t want to give his last name, told us whoever smashed his windows with a rock, did some pretty bad damage but he’s not the only victim.

One boat sank and two others were damaged after a fire broke out early Saturday at Seattle’s Shilshole Bay Marina.
Seattle Fire Department responded to the marina’s M Dock just after midnight and found a fire that had started on one boat, spread to a second, and endangering a third.
The boats were not occupied.

A man was killed in an early morning 2-alarm house fire in Port Townsend on Saturday.
Firefighters arrived at the home on the 300 block of Cook Ave. Extension shortly after the fire was reported at 7:44 a.m. Flames were coming from the house’s walkout basement, according to East Jefferson Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Bill Beezley.

Voters in Clark County Fire District 10 will decide in the election on April 25 whether they want to pay for 24-hour emergency staffing around the district.
The fire district, with the only item on the April election’s ballot, is proposing increasing its property tax levy rate from 68 cents to $1 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

The Hollister City Council this week declined to allow the Hollister Fire Department to apply for a federally-funded grant program that would pay a portion of firefighters' salaries before expiring in three years, which the council said could set up another scenario in which firefighters would have to be laid off.
In other action, the council did approve a resolution authorizing the fire department to apply for the 2017 Assistance to Firefighters Grant that would help purchase a Type 3 fire engine and the fund the purchase of shipping containers for live, controlled fire training.
