The legacy of Darien-EMS Post 53 is a long one for many of the teenagers who staff it.
“Growing up in Darien, you've known what Post is since you were a little kid,” 15-year-old Marin Nehro, a first-year volunteer, said. “Most of the people in here have wanted to do it for a really long time.”
For the past 53 years, teenagers like Nehro have provided the town of Darien with much of its emergency medical service, helping deliver babies, navigate a global pandemic and provide lifesaving care to their community.

VIDEO: For a second year in a row, the Horry County Fire Rescue team was designated as a Fire Safe South Carolina community.
Fire Safe South Carolina is a Palmetto state original. The program is not only designed to teach the public how to stay safe, but to also get firefighters into the communities they serve.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A hailstorm rained down on people attending a concert at Red Rocks Wednesday night. Large hail stones pummeled concertgoers just before 9:30 p.m., sending seven people to the hospital. That was before performer Louis Tomlinson took the stage, and the concert had to be canceled.

An anonymous donation has restored life jackets at the Selah Fire Station after the department said none of them had been brought back after they had been borrowed.
The Selah Fire Department said they haven't gotten the original loaner life jackets back, but an anonymous donation has allowed them to put more loaners up for use.
