Western Washington crews dealing with more fires amid stretch of warm, dry weather

We’re already starting to see the impact of dry conditions as firefighters are starting to deal with more brush fires, including two in Bellevue this weekend. Bellevue Fire crews responded to reports of trees on fire near a trailhead at 121st Avenue Southeast and Southeast Ninth Place on Sunday afternoon.

9 displaced, cat killed, in fire at duplex in Everett

Nine people were displaced, and a family cat killed, in a fire at an Everett duplex early Sunday morning. South County Fire was called to a fire at a duplex on 115th St SE around 1:15 a.m. Firefighters worked to contain the fire to the main unit it started in, and were able to extinguish it before 2 a.

Controlled burn in Benton County quickly becomes unmanageable, burns 3-5 acres

Firefighters from Benton County Fire District 1 are investigating after a controlled burn quickly became out of control. Leaders from the Fire District say they responded to a vegetation fire near Badger Road in the Country Heights Estates area just before 10:30 a.m. When crews arrived, they found a neighbor dousing the flames with garden hoses as they approached nearby structures.

‘Bit of a mystery’: 7 Arizona firefighters test for elevated levels of arsenic

Firefighters in Casa Grande received concerning test results when nearly half of a hazmat team tested for elevated levels of arsenic during their annual heavy metal testing. None of the seven firefighters knew they had high levels of the naturally occurring chemical that can cause cancer. Six of the seven are stationed at the same firehouse in Casa Grande.

Rising from the ashes: Why an antique fire truck in Colorado was worth restoring

VIDEO: There are currently about 45 fire trucks and engines in service with the Denver Fire Department. But one engine in particular, that no longer fights fires, holds a job that might be comparable in importance. And there was a time that it might have been lost forever. “If it could talk, it would be a bedtime story that would last a decade,” retired Denver firefighter Dan Farley said, smiling when referencing his 'passion' for nearly 15 years.
