Maine firefighter known for his grit, dies at 22

As a boy, Brandon J. Thibeau was so determined to be helpful, his grandmother had to cut her broom’s handle in half. That way, he could still pitch in sweeping up around the house, his mother said. It was an early glimpse of the young man her son would become. Never one to draw attention to himself, he was always looking out for others – even until his last days, she said.

Arrests Made in 1993 Los Angeles Fire that Killed 10

Prosecutors plan to file 12 counts of capital murder with special circumstance allegations today against three people arrested in connection with a 1993 fire at a Westlake apartment building that killed seven children and three adults, including two pregnant women, according to District Attorney Jackie Lacey.

FDNY medic spends off days patrolling Mexican border

$30 Million Available for PA Fire and Volunteer Ambulance Grant Applicants

On behalf of Governor Tom Wolf, State Fire Commissioner Tim Solobay announced Friday that $30 million in grants will be available to fire and volunteer ambulance companies who applied for the funds through the Fire Company/Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.
Volunteer Emergency Medical Services will receive $3.6 million and Volunteer and Career Fire Companies will receive a total of $26.4 million in funding.
