A body recovered Saturday in western Grant County was identified as the King County firefighter missing since last Saturday, authorities said.
There were no signs of foul play, sheriff’s deputies said.
Ken Ward, 43, was last seen October 15 in Roslyn, Wash. Dozens of people joined the statewide search.

Local police and fire officials say the answer to the county’s trouble with the emergency dispatch system may lie in Clark County’s 911 center.
On Oct. 9, local police and fire chiefs asked the Cowlitz Comm Center’s governing board to study consolidating with the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency, known as CRESA.

New merger talks involving the Lynnwood Fire Department and Snohomish County Fire District 1 are starting Monday.
The city and the fire district are exploring the possibility of forming a regional fire authority, a new government body that would levy its own taxes to provide fire protection and emergency medical services.

A 3-year-old boy who died in a fire late Friday night in Hillyard was found huddled with his dog, who stayed by his side, and a teddy bear.
“They died together,” said Spokane Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer.

A ground floor fire in a Browne’s Addition apartment building led to a big response Friday morning.
Spokane firefighters responded to a fire at the Greentree Apartments at 1919 W Pacific Ave around 9 a.m.
Neighbors said they saw smoke and flames coming from the apartment building. Firefighters evacuated residents and cut a hole in the side of the building to go after the fire.
