A female Providence firefighter who was a material witness in a sexual harassment case involving another city firefighter has filed her own lawsuit against the city. Danielle Masse, a rescue lieutenant who was hired in 2001, claims she was demoted from the rank of captain and suspended for 10 days less than one month before she took the stand to testify on behalf of Lori Franchina, a former firefighter who was awarded $806,000 by a federal jury in a gender discrimination and sexual harassment trial earlier this year.

"It’s constantly moving in this place,” The dispatch center handles more than a million calls a year.

Firefighters from the North Olympic Peninsula have arrived at Eastern Washington fires, according to county fire officials. Clallam County Fire District No. 2’s Brush 25 and crew of firefighter/EMTs Rick Leffler and Steve Bentley arrived at the Spokane Complex on Wednesday morning, said Sam Phillips, chief of the district that serves the area around Port Angeles.

The Hart and Cayuse Fires burning in Stevens and Lincoln County are burning on both sides of the Spokane River up north. It began as the Hart Fire near Davenport. When it jumped the river, the second fire became the Cayuse Fire, burning on the Spokane Indian Reservation. The Hart Fire is 4,200 acres and about 20 percent contained as of Wednesday.
