Duncan Chapel (SC) Dedicates New Fire Station

The Duncan Chapel Fire District dedicated its newest fire station during a ceremony Wednesday morning.
The new fire station is located at 935 Foothills Road in Greenville.

The Foothills Road station is the fire district's second station, which officials said will increase service to the growing area and support the original station on Old Buncombe Road.

Officials said a public open house will be scheduled for a later date.

Construction on the new facility began in November 2015.

Six Firefighters Trapped by Fast-moving Fire, Fire Apparatus Damaged by Flames

Six firefighters were trapped by the fast-moving Cajon Pass fire while helping residents evacuate. They were able to shelter in place, but two firefighters were hurt.
Six firefighters became entrapped by wildfire today while defending homes and assisting evacuations in the Swarthout Canyon area west of Cajon Pass. The six firefighters were part of two San Bernardino County Fire (SBCoFD) engine companies assigned to the area northwest of Cajon Blvd. Firefighters were able to shelter in place within a nearby structure, but two firefighters sustained minor injuries. Both firefighters were transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released and are now back on the fire line defending structures. One SBCoFD fire engine sustained moderate fire damage.

Unknown how injured woman ended up under Deception Pass Bridge

At first, it seemed like the body spotted Monday evening on a rocky ledge below Deception Pass Bridge was part of technical rope rescue training scheduled that evening. A call was placed to the duty officer at North Whidbey Fire and Rescue asking if the fire department had begun its drills already. “They saw something that wasn’t moving,” said Mike Brown, fire chief with the agency.
