Longview: Officer, firefighter evaluated at hospital over chemicals used in suicide attempt

Two emergency responders were evaluated at the hospital Wednesday evening after responding to a suicide attempt at a Longview apartment. Longview Fire Engine 81 was called out to 1705 Hemlock Street about 4:40 p.m. on reports that someone had been posting suicidal messages on Facebook. The person who called 9-1-1 said they managed to get ahold of the person by cell phone, but they sounded unintelligible.

Police: Everett man set fire to ex-lover's home, waited outside to kill her

A judge set bail at $500,000 for the man accused of trying to burn down his ex-lover's home. Terrence Peters, 55, is facing first-degree arson charges after authorities say he intentionally set fire to a North Everett apartment Tuesday morning. Police say Peters lit the fire, then waited outside the woman's porch "to kill her," but then fled to avoid being captured.

Seattle Fire releases report ahead of one-year anniversary of duck boat crash

Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of the deadly Ride the Ducks crash on the Aurora Bridge in Seattle. Five people died in the Sept. 24, 2015 crash, 16 were critically injured. Now KOMO has obtained an internal report by the Seattle Fire Department on their response that day to one of the largest mass casualty accidents in the city's history.

Fire crews investigating powdery substance at Spokane jail mail facility

Spokane Fire Department crews are investigating a white powdery substance that was discovered when an employee opened a letter Wednesday afternoon at the City of Spokane property facility. Inmate mail is processed at the facility, located at 1307 W. Gardner Ave., where storage for jail inmate property is also housed.
