West Virginia fire station destroyed in fire

PHOTOS - The Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Department is a total loss and at least half of its firefighting equipment has been destroyed after a fire earlier today ripped through the fire hall on Spring Street, authorities said. Firefighters from four states battled the blaze in Morgan County for several hours.

6 New Jersey firefighters hospitalized from warehouse chemical exposure

Six firefighters were hospitalized Tuesday after being exposed to a "chemical haze" emitted from a warehouse on Port Carteret Drive, officials said. Borough firefighters responding to the warehouse around 2 a.m. found smoke, but no flames, said Carteret fire Chief Mark Hruska. "It was smoke from a chemical reaction," he said.

Utah firefighters rescue woman after stumbling into man allegedly hanging her

Firefighters responding to reports of a grass fire in Parleys Canyon may have saved a woman's life after they happened to come across a man who they say was trying to hang her. Dog rescued, roof heavily damaged in Mercer Island fire

A large fire that sent flames shooting through the roof of a Mercer Island home Tuesday night likely started in the attic, firefighters said. A neighbor first spotted the fire at 7200 West Ridge Road and called 911, according to the Mercer Island Fire Department. The family wasn't home when the fire started, and firefighters were able to rescue a dog inside the house.
