Forty started the long and arduous process and 29 remained.
Those are the hard numbers behind the latest class of recruits to go through the Basic Firefighter Academy offered by the Buckley Fire Department.
The department, with Chief Alan Predmore and Lt. Keith Lambertus leading the way, regularly offers the academy that gives aspiring firefighters the opportunity to earn their badge.

For the fourth year in a row, the Army Fire and Emergency Services awards are being bestowed to service members from Joint Base Lewis-McChord’s Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
Three well-deserving members of the JBLM fire department were selected: Master Sgt. Jose Cardenas and Senior Airman Thomas Kaye, both members of the 627th Civil Engineer Squadron, and Christopher Barnard, a civilian firefighter.

The Aberdeen Fire Department is on the scene of a house fire in the 300 block of East Second Street this morning. Fire chief Tom Hubbard reports no known injuries at the scene, “We’ve actually got two structure fires going right now, we’ve got one on Perry street that was a porch and then this one came in with possible occupants trapped.
