Ephrata Purchasing New Ambulance for $21,000 Less Than Anticipated

The city council approved a contract to spend about $139,000 for an ambulance through Braun Manufacturing. The council previously approved buying the ambulance using Snohomish County Fire District 3's bid. The company estimates the new ambulance is going to be delivered within 280 days, Fire Chief Jeremy Burns said.
City officials previously estimated the vehicle would cost about $160,000.

The city is purchasing the vehicle after voters approved an $820,000 bond to purchase new equipment for the fire department. Property owners are paying 15 cents per $1,000 of assessed value more in property taxes to pay the bonds.

The councilmembers previously approved paying $411,000 to purchase a fire engine from Pennsylvania-based Kovatch Mobile Equipment.
